PhD Thesis

Dr Panagiotis Klonos received his degree in “Applied Mathematical and Physical Sciences’’ by the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) in 2007 and his MSc in “Microsystems and Nanodevices” also in NTUA in 2009. He received  his PhD in 2015 under the supervision of Prof. Polycarpos Pissis (Thesis title: ''Interfacial interactions and molecular dynamics in organic-inorganic nanocomposite polymeric materials''). He performs Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC), Broadband Dielectric relaxation Spectroscopy (BDS), Thermally Stimulated Depolarization Currents (TSDC), Equilibrium and Dynamic water Sorption Isotherm (ESI and DSI) measurements on amorphous and semicrystalline polymeric systems. Materials under study are polymers filled with metal oxide nanoparticles (conventional nanocomposites) and polymers adsorbed onto the surface of nanoparticles (core-shell based nanocomposites). Emphasis is given on the understanding of polymer dynamics and conformations at the filler-polymer interfaces.
